A Case of Mistaken Identity

Today while driving on purpose I was pulled over by a law enforcement officer. This officer in plain clothes had the biggest smirk on his face I have ever seen. Officer Lue, I think it was, asked for my license and registration.

I complied and he asked if I knew why he pulled me over. I said, I don't have a clue. He said that well, son I have followed you from Jackson Hospital to Davis Ave. It seems that you started off following the laws of the land but you improperly changed lanes.… Continue

Free Agency in the Garden

Years ago a young man was faced with a decision whether to remain with his current team or test the free agency market. At the urging of his wife he considered the pros and cons. His wife was already in talks with the potential team owner and accepted her own contract. The franchise player accepted the new contract and turned his back on the owner that had developed him, coached him and endorsed him when he was a no name player in the garden.

Of course we know how this decision… Continue

Are You Covered by Blessed Assurance and not Life Insurance?

The first lesson I learned about life insurance is that it creates an estate. The reason a community remains in poverty is failure to buy life insurance by purchasing burial policies only. A patriach/matriarch that not only leaves a family the loss of their life but also leaves them with the pain of lack is a double jeopardy.

I think Blessed Assurance is great but get some Life Insurance for your family. Life insurance is not for the dead it's for the living. We purchase policy on… Continue

Jeni's Hope for Tomorrow A Survivor's Story

Jeni* is a sweet, 15 year old who is filled with hope for her future. However, you would not expect this if you knew what she has been through. About a year ago she met a woman who pretended to be her friend. This older woman was extremely kind to Jeni. She bought her things and acted like a true friend by caring for her but all of this was just a pretense to earn Jeni’s trust.

After three short weeks she introduced Jeni to a street gang that raped, drugged, and trafficked her. They…

Have you talked to your Father?

Sitting in the waiting room of the hospital until the hands of the clock displayed 200pm. I would be given the chance to spend ten short minutes to visit my mother in her lasts days of life in earth during scheduled visits.Of course we always from day one believe that our parents will always be there but much to our chagrin that is not he case.

As I held my mother's hand each time speaking to her with no response, I realized that only a shell remained of the once lively woman who was… Continue

Eaten My Fill but I am Too Full to Serve

We are familiar with the point in service when the sermon has been preached, the offering has been taken up, the announcements have been made, the doors of the church have been opened and the benediction occurs. And the much anticipated time comes to hear the welcomedo words... AMEN!

For some this is the starting whistle for the race to watch the big game or race to the local restaurant. But let's suppose that this particular Sunday a different race takes place, this is a race to… Continue

Did you leave your name badge at home today?

Many believers daily go to work in various capacities in many arenas and industries. Often the believers are known in their church as leadership but in their jobs they are simply one of the workers.

I wonder if Marketplace Leaders have conveniently left their name tags at home in a briefcase of spiritual amnesia or spiritual vertigo. We must begin to realize that where the church grounds ends the market place must begin.

If you leave your name badge at home not only do… Continue

Paradigm Shift: The Church (Part 3)

Matt 18:20  ”For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them”. Even the gathering of two or three, the Church comes into existence. Christians must get away from the idea that the Church is a building and a temple.…

Paradigm Shift: The Church (Part 1)

The Oxford Dictionary’s definition of the Church : “Building For Christian Public Worship”.

The majority of Christians have accepted this definition. Church is the place where Christian go for service, worship and ministry. Many have accepted the ‘Church’ to be a ‘Building’, a ‘Place’ where Christian go for their religious activities. This definition is not Biblical ! For Transformation Of The Marketplace to take place we need to…

How Much A Prayer Weighs.

A poorly dressed lady with a look of defeat on her face, walked into a grocery store. She approached the owner of the store in a most humble manner and asked if he would let her charge a few groceries. She softly explained that her husband was very ill and unable to work, they had seven children and they needed food.

John Longhouse, the grocer, scoffed at her and requested that she leave his store.

Visualizing the family needs, she…
